Phase II Environmental Site Assessments

•  Viskase Puerto Rico Corp. at Barceloneta, P.R. Year 1991.

SHARETECH responsibility included conducting a Phase I & II Environmental Assessment as the plant announced permanent shutdown and management expressed interest to sell property with buildings and general utilities left in place. Project included also decontamination, certification of cleanliness and dismantling of all process proprietary equipment as well as supervising asbestos removal and replacement of roof and wall panels with non-asbestos material. Total project amounted to a budget of $3.5million. As part of project SHARETECH subcontracted a geotechnical firm (SoilTech) to evaluate the extent and nature of contamination in soil and also included groundwater monitoring to compare with drinking water quality standards. Project successfully showed minimal contamination and placed the company in sound environmental compliance for closure of permits with EQB and in competitive position for potential sale to new owners.
